winIQ holds as little about you as it can. There are no adverts, no trackers, no data brokers and no advertising identifiers. This page says exactly what is kept, why it is kept, how long for, and how to get rid of it.
SokoTech, Nairobi, Kenya, is the data controller for winIQ. Questions, requests and complaints: privacy@winiq.dev.
| What | Why | Lawful basis | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| An account number we generate | A random identifier created the first time you open the app, so your progress belongs to something. It is not a device ID and not an advertising ID. | Performance of a contract — running the game you asked to play | Until you delete your account |
| Your phone number or email address | Asked for only at the moment you buy Pro, so that a purchase survives a reinstall or a new handset. Nothing else uses it. | Performance of a contract | Until you delete your account |
| Gameplay events | Rounds finished, answers given, levels reached. Your Cognitive Index is these events — without them the score cannot exist. | Performance of a contract | Until you delete your account |
| Purchase records | Deciding whether Pro is active, and restoring it when you reinstall. | Legal obligation — accounting and tax records | Kept after deletion, but stripped of anything identifying you. See below. |
| Your email, if you join the launch waitlist | To send you one email when winIQ is released. It is not added to any other list and it is not used for anything else. | Consent — the tick box on the form, which you can withdraw at any time | Deleted once the launch email is sent, or as soon as you ask |
| Who | What they see | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Everything in the table above | Runs the database and accounts |
| Paystack | Your phone or email, the amount, the plan | The licensed payment processor for Android and web |
| Apple | Your App Store account's own purchase record | iPhone subscriptions. We receive a purchase event, not your identity |
| Twilio | Your phone number | Delivers the one-time code, if you verify by phone |
On servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Our hosting provider has no African region, so the data has to leave Kenya wherever it sits. Under the Data Protection Act 2019 a transfer out of Kenya needs appropriate safeguards, and the EU has the regime those safeguards are most clearly written against — which is why Frankfurt rather than the United States.
Everything above lives for as long as your account does. Delete the account and your events, scores, progress and entitlements go with it.
Purchase records are the one exception, and they are de-identified rather than deleted. Your account number is detached from the record and your contact details are cleared, leaving an amount, a currency, a date and a payment reference with no person attached. A completed purchase is a record of money that actually moved; deleting it would not undo the payment, it would only destroy our own copy of a transaction that Paystack, Apple and the bank all still hold — and leave us unable to answer a question about your own money.
Under the Data Protection Act 2019 you can:
To delete your account: Stats → Settings → Delete my account in the app, which takes effect immediately, or use the deletion page if you have already uninstalled. Any other request goes to privacy@winiq.dev and we answer within 30 days.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. An App Store or Google Play subscription is an agreement between you and Apple or Google, and we hold no way to end it. Cancel it in the App Store or Play Store first, then delete the account — otherwise you will keep being billed for an account that no longer exists.
winIQ is rated for all ages and carries no adverts, no chat and no user-generated content. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to privacy@winiq.dev and we will remove it.
If what we collect changes, this page changes on the same day, and the date at the top moves. Material changes are announced in the app rather than left here to be discovered.
